Sunday 4-15-2012 - Import Face-Off - Thunder Valley

Jumping Jack Flash it's off to the races, another new year of thrills. I've missed the first few bracket races at TVRP because of schedule changes and not getting off work soon enough to make it to the track. Today is the Import Face-Off. Took the Ghia with the awesome 2165cc dual 48 IDA's to stomp the rice burners. The day started off cool and warmed up to the low 70's. Walked around the car show and didn't see much that excited me. Put the slicks on the Ghia and made a few time trials. 1st round I was last in line and had the bye run. 2nd round beat a Hunnnda (I'm guessing) by .147 seconds. 3rd round races a Black BMW and he red light. Final round I raced a White BMW. I dialed the Ghia in at 14.53 and had a 058 reaction time. I was 5 car lengths ahead and coasted across the finish line to take the win with a 14.577 at 80.53 MPH. That makes 4 wins out of 6 of these Import Face-Off's that I've entered. Best pass of the day 14.385 @ 92.30 MPH.

Pictures to prove I'm not making this up

Anybody know what time it is?

Thet do not allow any aircooled VW's in the heads-up classes, but do allow me only in the bracket race class.

saturday 5-26-2012 - Thunder Valley Raceway Pack.

When you got it, you flaunt it. I haven't got to race much this year because of work schedule and the track changing their starting times. I hooked the Blue Dunebuggy on the tow bar and headed South. Got my favorite pit spot by Sanddude father. Made 2 time trials and the Buggy running great. 1st round beat a Camaro, 2nd round beat a Camaro, 3rd round beat some little blue car, not exactly sure what it was. 4th round raced a Mustang and he red light. Final round and I'm racing a girl, not just any girl, but the wife of the guy leading the points in my class. She's got a Black Cobra Mustang, and I have my wheelie bars. I lower the shield on my helmet, focus on the tree and dump the clutch with the scream of the mighty 2007cc V Dub. Down the track and at the stripe I get her by a full car length for the win. That's 2 wins in 2 races boys and girls. Car was on the mark running a 8.84, 8.85, 8.87, 8.87, 8.83, 8.85, and 8.87

Anybody have a cold wet rag to cover my big swelling head?

Sunday 6-4-2012 - Tulsa Raceway Park - Tulsa, OK

Well I never thought it would be boring and to brag about winning but this is just lame. Went up to Tulsa Sunday for the Import Face-Off. Only 2 cars in the bracket class. Some dude in a Ford Festiva dials a 19.49 and I'm in the Ghia. I chase him down with a 14.24 dial and he breaks out bad and I take the win. Kinda lame. At least I broke even on expenses. I won $5 more then it cost me in gas, turnpike tole, and entry fees. At least they had a hot trophy girl.

Gotta love the players

Saturday 6-9-2012 - Thunder Valley.

Thunder Up.......

You just can't be on top forever. Took the blue Dunebuggy with the 2007cc engine to TVRP. Got in line and waited my turn. Not really all that excited about this 1/8th mile stuff. Beat a high school kid in his red Mustang 1st round and was actually faster then he was. Raced a purple Camaro 2nd round and won again. 3rd round raced a brown Camaro and got beat by .012 seconds across the line. That's about one tire length. I'm not too disappointed in such a close race. Ran a 8.835 @ 74.31 MPH. There was a red Corvette pro mod there testing and ran 4.35 at 180 MPH. I coulda whooped him.

Saturday 6-23-2012 - Thunder Valley Raceway Park

Washed and waxed the race car. Running the 1915cc with dual 48 IDA's and a brand new pro swing transaxle from Rancho. Bought 104 octane GT unleaded race gas at $8.50 a gallon (ouch). Car ran great in the heat, but I was a little cautious with the new gearbox. It takes a few passes to get everything tweaked and adjusted. 1st round blew past some goat roper in his Chebby pick-up truck. 2nd round had a real tight race against a Mustang and he broke out giving me the win by .005. Lost 3rd round racing a hot shot with a broken dragster so he raced his street Camaro and got me bad on the tree. Ran a 8.04 @ 83.06 MPH.

This week is last weeks next week.

Saturday 6-30-2012 - Thunder Valley

It's soooo hot I forgot to post my shenanigans (is that a word?) Rolling the Roadster into the lions pit. 28 PSI of air in the rear Mickey Thompson Drag Radials and 3 gallons of gas in the Jazz fuel cell. Made the customary time trials and ate a cheeseburger. Raced the 2011 class champion in his Camaro and lost when I broke out.Bought back in for 2nd round and raced a Red Mustang and whooped him up and coasted across the line for the win. 3rd round lined up with a big Red Dodge 4X4 truck. I was in the right lane and drove into his blind spot and he broke out. 4th round raced an old man in his Mustang fastback and misjudged th weather and broke pout giving him the win. I was the fastest car in the class with a best pass of 8.055 @ 83.75 MPH. Class ET break is 7.90 & slower. Just to let you know the track allows "Buy Backs". If you loose 1st round you can buy back and enter 2nd round. It's just a chickenshit way for the track to make more money.

My father will be 90 years old on July 4th. Everybody in the country celebrates his birthday.

saturday 7-7-2012 - TVRP Noble, OK

Summer sweltering heat and I'm too darned old to put on the fire suite and helmet and sweat in the Valley. Raced the Ghia wearing a T-shirt and a faded Jeg's baseball cap. No wheelie bars and a Bugpack Mundo muffler. 1st round raced a Burgundy colored Camaro with tinted windows, and I'm only dialed in 9.19 to his 9.00. He gets me across the line but breaks out and I'm the winner. 2nd round I race a sandbagger in a Buick running way faster then the class ET limit. I'm going and rowing and miss 3rd gear. This knucklehead zoooms on past and breaks out handing me the win. 3rd round it's after midnight and I'm tired. I'm racing a Mustang and ahead by 2 car lengths. I tap the brake just a little too hard and he skates around me by .003 seconds and wins.

It's 95* outside and I'm sitting here watching "Ice Road Truckers" on TV. That's just messed up.

Saturday 7-21-2012 - Thunder Valley Raceway

Picture perfect. A picture and a paragraph is all you get on those dating sites. Well you ain't getting either, and I ain't got any pictures. I'll talk and jabber till the world ends. Decided to race the blue Dunebuggy with the mighty 2007cc engine. Three time trials and the party starts. The staging lane marshal is drawing cards and I get the left lane and a Camaro get the right. I run a perfect 8.870 on a 8.87 dial for the win. Next is an old Dodge Dart and he breaks out. 3rd round some guy named Jesse in a red Mustang. He's late on the tree and I'm first across the line for the win. On to the next round against the purple Camaro. Who drives a purple Camaro. I leave, he leaves, the earth rotates and I win. Final round and I'm going against a kid in his Mustang. It's 11:08 pm and past my bedtime. I put a whooping on him and take the win. I win, I win, I win. RacerDave wins. Woooooo Hoooooooo . I go upstairs to get the check and the computer girl said she knew I was going to win. Best pass 8.839 @ 75.45 MPH

Got that all in one paragraph.

Saturday 8-4-2012 - Thunder Valley Raceway Park

Many years ago I had a surf board on top of my Dunbuggy. For some strange reason the track wouldn't let me race with it. Too hot and I'm too lazy to remove the street muffler and bolt on the wheelie bars. Told the track starting line official he had to catch me if I fell out. Raced a White Camaro 1st round and won when he left too early with a red light. 2nd round and it's a White Comet. Old man driving was asleep and 1/4 second late on the tree and I coasted for the win. 3rd round and the Buggy lets me down. I could tell going thru the gears that it wasn't pulling strong and little sluggish. Ran 2/10 th's slow and lost. We're off the next two weeks so I guess I'll have time to tune it up. Some stupid girl wanted my picture and made me stand there for two minutes so she could figure out how to work her camera. Stupid Blondes.

I give away all the free advise that I don't use for myself.
