A year and a half ago...I purchased a 73 bug in Enid, that was advertised
with a little rust.... the day I purchased I could not bend over or get on
my hand and knees to inspect the pan....bought the bug with good intentions
of not replacing the pans....just the rest of the cosmetic and usual rust
issues on a typical 73 that came out of Kansas.....just sort of put this on
the back burner...with the occasional glance from afar, but never really with
a magnifying glance"Alice Cooper"
.....got really serious when I moved it into my shop to
start the restoration.....got down on my hands/knees....
and I need pans both sides

So I decided if I am going to replace the pans....I want a different body, since
I am going to pull the body.....not that fond of the newer bugs 71 and above,
but do really like the IRS suspension w/ball joints....not fond the the 3 point
seats 73 and above also.....so now the 73 is the donor running gear/chassis
for the 61 Rag
Purchased the 61 Rag Top from Oklahoma Bugs in Tulsa, they even delivered it to me

I had the cements blocks already positioned with the landscaping timbers...
three of us lifted off their trailer and placed on my supports
It will still end up with wide 5 wheels...already have the W-5 rear drums
and will upgrade to wide 5 disks on the front
This will end up a turbo build with a N/A in the beginning
