69 bus

Postby Frank K » Mon Nov 18, 2013 10:32 am

Always wanted a bus, would have rather had a split window but this one will do.

Going to lower it and then get the body in shape then paint. Interior is in good shape and runs great.

Looks like it was way too expensive to paint now.

Wagenswest is starting to get Elitist and his prices reflect that sadly.

Not that its important, but in todays market, a bus like that fresh paint will kill the value.

Nice 69 Bus/Bay !!!
When I had my shop in the 70's
I had a 69 single cab red pick-up
was my shop truck....purchased for $150.00
The engine was all there....just a basket case
rebuilt the engine.....and just drove and drove
never left me stranded....was a stout truck
I wish I still had it today

Lowering kit from WagensWest should be here soon and the new wheels. Just had the back ones widened and we painted them. Got a new radio for her now to install and I am ready for summer fun.

A shop here in Topeka widened them. I always wanted a set too, they weren't cheap but it helped that I had some carbs the guy wanted. They are 15's. I haven't decided what size tires I'am going to run yet.

Yes, his name is Lawrence. He has a set on his 54 beetle. He has a really cool split window bus.

Down here nobody know where to get them done, yet I guarantee there is a place.

What they charge you?

Jim,
I seem to think it was about $75 a wheel. But not for sure, getting too old to remember the small things in life.

Yes I'm still interested. I can not find anyone in this state that advertises wheel widening services. And the out of state ones I have found where asking $200 per or more (mind you this is for aluminum), and they where either east coast or west coast so at least shipping would be less to Kansas!!!!
