My Thing has no heater, 73 model...no gas heater...had been removed
the 73 also has no fresh air heater like the bugs and s-beetles
I purchased one of the 12V heaters
from Harbor Freight.....wasted my $$

But today, Love's Truck/Car Plaza @ NE 122nd and !-35
I purchased a 12V heated car blanket, draws 10 amps
with a 8' cord. 44"x54" size.... on sale for 29.99 ($5 bucks off normal price)
I plugged it in while in their parking lot....making sure it worked....
they have 4 left on the shelf

More info on 12V car blanket
A stock 12 volts headlamp (low beam) is 55 watts.
Amps=55 watts/12 volts. A 12 volt headlight pulls 4.58 amps
This 12V blanket, pulls a little more than having your 12V stock headlamps
on low beam....or 10 amps as I posted earlier....always wondered how many
amps a headlamp pulls.
6V headlamps pulls 6.67 amps each....FYI

You are correct....the stock VW wiring: assessory cig. lighter...gauge of wire may be too small ??

I thought ahead on this....I wired in my lighter aftermarket socket.....direct off the battery:
it's own separate circuit with inline fuse w/heavy gauge wire.... :idea:

i know 6v cars should be fine, that wire is huge. Late models i dont know. Definitely worth checking.
