Ok, before i blew the motor.. i had this problem. At random moments i would get voltage spikes where Lights would go as bright as possible, even popped them a couple of times, usually for only a few seconds or a minute or so. I had changed voltage regulator and still could not trace it down. Short of changing alternator when i build the new motor...not sure what to do.

What's a good place and price for long block?

So you have an old alternator with external regulator?

That would be my guess, at 15+ volts bulbs will pop.

My notch lights were bright as hell after i changed my regulator to a used one, and i loved it but then i noticed a funny smell (not me LOL) i lifted up the back seat and battery was hot as hell (boiling). checked the voltage and i was at near 15v. Changed the regulator good to go, this is on a generator though.

Long block, new or used? 1600 or?

My friend darrel builds them and also larrys very reasonable if you have a good core.

prices very greatly depending on what you need and what type/brand of parts you want.
