Had a weird thing happen in the rain yesterday. I drove my 73 Bug to work in the rain and had no problems, it rained all day, then when I drove home the oil light just came on and the fuel guage pegged to the left ( beyond empty). I pulled over and checked the oil, it was full, the engine was not hot , no squeals or abnormal noises, and the engine ran fine. I drove it home and later went out and started it up, no oil light. I think it was water on some wires. The fuel guage worked for a few min. and pegged left again. What gives? Has any one had this problem.

Dried everthing out. Looks like window seals. I replaced some connectors on fuel vibrator and problem is gone for now.

Maybe your car used to be owned by a weather man? It looks like it's trying to forecast the weather!
