easiest for now to try is get under it on stands, then have someone jack up on the middle of the trans and watch the mounts. some movement is ok, alot or seeing the mount is really seperated is bad.
usually if it does it backwards it will do it from a stop in first too.

Im stumped and agrivated!! I checked the mount they seem good, clutch cable seems ok, tube has a bend in it. Every other gear is smooth and hell ! I can kinda ride the clutch and back out no problem, but if i give it any gas then forget it! It shakes and squeels the tires. Wonder if its a trans issue?? Thats where my experience ends. Oh well Back to the drawing board!

Try to put more bow in the tube. take clutch cable off, pull tube out of the rear mount, add fat washer or 2 and see that. might not fix it but im sure it will help.
otherwise could be weak pressure plate, flywheel needs to be turned, or clutch disc is shot too

67-68 is the best stock swing axle trans for gearing with a 1600.
If you get a rebuilt one youll get screwed on the core charge, nobody wants split case trans. But any 62-68 trans will work.

Well its a trans mount gone bad after all.. I did a contraption for a temp fix so I can drive till I can pull the dam motor and fix it :D ...

By the way... Where would a guy go to get a motor line bored and rebuilt around here.. Larrys?? I don't know if the other guy Darrell does that plus he's not taking new business right now evidently. I don't think this motor is as new as the P.O. said it was... Got some Oil pressure issues when it warms up.

Larry ya.
Change the oil and put a good non synthetic 20-50 and see what that does.
